What it is

Understanding telomere health.

Telomeres are protective sections at the ends of chromosomes that naturally shorten as cells divide. Telomere information may offer context about cellular aging, but it does not by itself diagnose disease or predict exactly how long someone will live.

How it works

What this service actually does.

Think of telomeres as the protective plastic tips on shoelaces. They sit at the ends of chromosomes and help keep genetic material from fraying or joining incorrectly. Each time many cells divide, their telomeres usually become a little shorter. Genetics, age, illness, smoking, chronic stress, sleep, activity, and other factors may influence this process.

A telomere test usually estimates telomere length in a blood sample and compares it with a reference group. It does not measure the age of every organ, prove that someone is aging too quickly, or predict lifespan. In this service, the useful part is physician interpretation: Dr. Meek explains the result, its limitations, and the evidence-based health factors you can act on.

What care may include

Specific evaluation and treatment options.

01

Review of available telomere-length results in the context of age and overall health

02

Assessment of cardiovascular, metabolic, sleep, stress, nutrition, exercise, and smoking-related risks

03

A practical healthy-aging plan; not a promise to lengthen telomeres or reverse aging

How care works

Evaluation first. Then a personal plan.

01

Explain what telomeres and available tests can reasonably show

02

Interpret results in the context of your overall health rather than as a stand-alone answer

03

Focus the plan on established factors such as sleep, movement, nutrition, stress, and disease prevention

Possible improvements

What treatment may help with.

Results depend on the underlying cause, your health, and the treatment selected. When care is appropriate, the goals may include:

Important medical note

Telomere tests have limitations, and no therapy has been proven to safely reverse human aging by activating telomerase.
